Barrie Foot Clinic
Shockwave Therapy

Radial shockwave therapy can now be used to treat chronic plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis. Used on its own or as part of an overall treatment protocol that might also include custom foot orthotics, laser and ultrasound therapies, nights splints, stretching and exercises, cortisone injections and taping, patients of the Barrie Foot Clinic now have more treatment options.
Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT) is an intense but very short acoustic energy wave. It introduces a micro trauma to an area of pain to stimulate components within the body to heal itself. This can even be accomplished in cases of chronic pain, when the body has demonstrated a previous unwillingness to heal.
Positive effects include scar tissue and calcification reduction, collagen tissue stimulation and formation, tissue healing acceleration, inflammation reduction, and pain reduction through neutral effects.
